Mission

Wireless Networks and communication along with their applications are evolving rapidly. One of the fast growing areas of wireless networks research is the development of novel Nano scale devices and wireless Nano-networks. This technology is expected to enable novel unique applications of nanotechnology in the biomedical, industrial, environmental and military fields. Another wireless networks research area that is widely investigated is the utilization of electricity Smart Grids. Since, energy efficiency, reliability, security and environmental stewardship are becoming broadly accepted as areas of expected performance improvement at electric utilities. Smart grid applications have the opportunity to move the electric industry forward, even in harsh economic times. In fact, significant steps are underway for a comprehensive modernization of the electricity power system in many countries.

The 1st Seminar on Wireless Networks Applications in Smart Grids and Nano Devices will give an overview and highlights on the current advances in the above mentioned areas to increase the visibility of these growing research topics to the local research community. In addition, it aims to bring together researchers from diverse disciplines that can foster and develop new communications and computing paradigms for nanoscale devices and smart grid applications. Thus, this will help the broader impact of our research. In terms of social impact, these technologies will play a major role in our daily lives. Also, In terms of scientific and academic impact, these highlights will support the establishment of new project and postgraduate research. Finally, our Advanced Wireless Networking Group (AWNG) at the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology is trying to focus on problems that are of particular importance to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and to work in compliance with the Kingdoms strategic planning for research and development.
